Hi I am sufferer of OCD and had this for a long time. My problem is that I think when I get a cold etc that I’ve infected people on purpose, like when I stand too close to other people. It can almost feel like a compulsion to do something I know I shouldn’t do. If I’m stressed it gets worse, I really don’t know why I do this. I know I shouldn’t do it but still I do it. I just want to get this off my chest. Does anyone know where I’m coming from?

It is unavoidable. But it is also essential for our survival. Everything is ‘Cross-Bontaminated’ in some way. (A new word to google) But we all have built in resistance to everything around us. The story ‘War of the worlds’ by HG Wells was a brill example of this.
We used to say that we got wierd tummys whilst on holiday, due to change of water.
We will be fine… Just think of the number of other people around us who never wash their hands.
If it’s safe for them, then, because we are so much more conscientious about these things, it most defifinitely is okay for us too.
Welcome!
