Hi everyone, I’ve starting to use my tested methods to tackle OCD intrusive thoughts, and was seeing progress. I was doing some mindfulness. I then had the unwanted idea to ‘go on, think about those things’  around my harm-related thoughts. It really startled me. I’m not sure how best to deal with this part of OCD intrusive thoughts, because my real intentions are not to have these thoughts. Has anyone else had this? What steps did you make to stop it?

Hi, all I can say is that’s what OCD does. It will always try to slip you up at any given moment. Of course it wants you to think about the bad thoughts because that’s what gives it power. If you are doing well with your mindfulness I’d say next time your ocd tells you to think about the thoughts just try to skip that thought. If that makes sense. The more you pay attention to the ocd thoughts, the more power they get.

Stay safe and look after yourself.
