I am currently in a communal living space and am struggling with some of the residents standing too close, breathing on me, tapping me on the shoulder, coughing with their mouths open, their flatulence in my personal space, their drunkenness in my personal space, the cigarette and vape smoke stuck to their clothing, the smell of their “parts” on door handles, etc.

I am afraid to tell the employees for fear that they will label me a complainer or too sensitive. I have been sitting on the edge of unclean seating, sometimes on top of clipboards or whatever I can find, to prevent the dirt stuck to the chairs from getting near my “parts”.

How do you handle communal living when you don’t have control over the hygiene of others, you don’t always have access to your personal belongings so don’t know who rummaged through them, and you can’t address the employees about the cleanliness of the residents using the facility for fear of angering or offending them about their standards
