Hi,
I have been diagnosed with ocd by many therapists so does this mean I am not Gay as this is what therapists have told me.
i was with a girl and only dated girls all my life now I get all these thoughts 24/7
i am currently working with a therapist from NOCD who said ocd isn’t denial or orientation crisis but when I go on forums they say people can have OcD and realise they are Gay at the end of therapy.
i am so confused

Forum moderators here; thanks for posting. Unfortunately on this forum users can’t tell you if you have OCD or what your orientation is. Users are not medical professionals and don’t know you personally, so can’t provide this type of information.
To check if your assessment and diagnosis was done correctly, please look at the resources on our website, especially on our ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS pages, they may help you: https://ocdaction.org.uk/resources/assessment/
You can also contact the OCD Action Helpline to talk to or email someone who understands OCD should be diagnosed
Our Helpline volunteers provide confidential and unbiased information and support for people with OCD Most volunteers have personal experience of OCD; all understand OCD and how it should be diagnosed.
Contact our Helpline by:
- phone: 0300 636 5478 (this is a UK number).
- email: support@ocdaction.org.uk
You can also find out about support groups on our website. These offer a safe place where you can talk openly about OCD and support other people too. Our information about UK-based groups can be found here:
- Local independent support groups: https://ocdaction.org.uk/i-need-support/local-support/
- OCD Action Skype/Phone/Zoom support groups: https://ocdaction.org.uk/i-need-support/ocd-action-skype-phone-zoom-support-groups/
If you don’t live in the UK, you can look for groups near you on the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) website. Look in the section “Find Help” and then under “Listing Types”, choose “Support Groups”: https://iocdf.org/
And please remember that you’re never alone – OCD Action is here to help and support you.
