Hi I’m looking at scaling back on my mental health prescription medication to concentrate on therapy, healthy eat and exercise. I really believe that is best for my future. But my intrusive thoughts keep pushing me to be negative, so how can I stay positive? Sometimes medication actually makes me feel worse, especially if I take it in the evening. I have negative intrusive thoughts almost continuously, and that was before and after I started medication.  Will cutting meds, just a bit at a time be safe? According to my CBT therapist I need to consult my prescribing doctor before cutting back on meds but do I really need to?
