My dad thinks for a long time that he has Ocd – he goes to his gp for tests but all the gp says is stuff like asking if he’s tried Citalopram and then prescribing 20 mgs, cause that supposedlyworks well for ocd. He also said odd things like has he tried a gym membership or mindfullness? But he did no tests or real evaluation to decide Dad has ocd – is this right??

        Hello:

Thanks for posting on the forums. We just want to be sure you know you (and your Dad) can also contact the OCD Action Helpline and Email Service to talk to or email someone who understands OCD.

Our Helpline volunteers provide confidential and unbiased help, information and support for people with OCD (and their families, carers and friends too).

Most volunteers have personal experience of OCD; all understand OCD and how it can impact an entire family’s life.

        Contact our Helpline by:

        – phone: 0300 636 5478 (this is a UK number).

        – email: support@ocdaction.org.uk

And please remember that you’re never alone – OCD Action is always here to help and support you.

        Regards,
