At OCD Action we often draw attention to fundraising events involving running, climbing or other forms of physical exercise. But this isn’t the only way to raise money and awareness for our cause. For instance, Jack Robinson is fundraising for us using his own professional medium: music!
We may have just finished our Week of Action, but that doesn’t mean that there’s going to be an end to exciting fundraising events in the near future. Quite the opposite in fact, as we have two separate half-marathons this weekend alone!
We recently updated you on all of the exciting community fundraising events happening in the next few months, and now we are in February, one of those events is just a few weeks away!
Some of you may remember Jack Pridmore, who went on a HUGE fundraising journey around every county in England this time last year.
Well, he’s back again! And he’s ready to undertake a task which is just as daunting as the last one.
2015 was an absolutely thrilling year for community fundraising at OCD Action! From Jack Pridmore’s epic journey around England in February, to Alex and James’s 3-peak challenge in July, to Lowri Hadden’s gruelling Tough Mudder in September, we’ve had people all year round going to great lengths (and heights!) to raise money and awareness for our cause.
And from the looks of things, 2016 is going to be even more exciting!
Here’s a quick preview of all of the incredible events that we have coming up in the first few months of the year:
Earlier this month we told you about Sharon MacDonald’s brave decision to run the Dublin Marathon. We’re thrilled to report that she managed to run a staggering 23.5 miles, and raised an absolutely huge £515.60 in the process! Sharon, who has had OCD for 20 years, was so passionate about raising money and awareness that she ran until her legs literally gave out! Now that’s what we call commitment!
OCD Action has had a thrilling few weeks for events from our wonderful fundraisers! Lowri Hadden recently conquered the intense Tough Mudder, and now another of our fundraisers is taking on a less muddy – but equally tough – challenge!
Last month we wrote about the amazing Lowri Hadden as she attempted to undertake the gruelling “Tough Mudder”, a 10-12 mile military-style obstacle course which requires strength, endurance and a healthy dose of teamwork. We’re very pleased to report that her mission was a roaring success! Lowri managed to raise a whopping £563 for OCD Action, which will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by OCD everywhere.
At the start of the summer, our wonderful community fundraisers faced some pretty tough challenges in their mountaineering, peak-scaling and hill-running exploits. And as the summer draws to a close, along comes a tough challenge to challenge the toughest of tough challenges - the appropriately named ‘Tough Mudder’ being completed by Lowri Hadden on Saturday 12th September.
What an exciting month it has been for community fundraising events; first Tim's South Downs Marathon, then our fundraiser's climb up Mont Blanc, and to top it off, Alex's and James's 3 peaks challenge, which they completed last week!
Alex and James set out to run up all 3 peaks (Snowden, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) but instead of driving between them, cycle themselves - and their equipment - from one peak to another. And that's exactly what they did!
