For my intrusive thoughts, the best trick I’ve got to acknowledge them neutrally.
It can stop the loop in it’s tracks or just take the “bite” out of it. It can be difficult as it you’re anything like me you get thoughts throughout the day, but it’s helped me at times.
I say “I notice I’m having an intrusive thought about [whatever thought].”
That can work itself but at times I finish with “I’d like to think about [insert something you like]” which can help me move on out the loop.
Keep in mind that it can be difficult to: 1. be bothered, 2. Keep it up, 3. Not jump back into the thought loop.
It doesn’t always work for me it’s definitely helped.
