For many years, the OCD Action Forum has been a place where people could share their experiences, support each other and feel understood. To everyone who has been part of it, thank you. The kindness and openness you’ve shown each other made this a warm and welcoming community, and we know how much it has meant to so many of you.
Why is the forum closing?
We’re sorry to be closing the forum, and we want to be open about why.
Changes to the technology our website runs on mean that keeping the forum working well in the long term would take far more technical work and investment than we’re able to currently give it, especially as funding for charities becomes much harder to secure. At the same time, very few people now use the forum, with many more finding support through our other services.
In these circumstances, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the forum, so we can focus our time and care on the services people are using most.
What’s changing and when
- New registrations are now closed.
- If you have an account, you can keep using the forum as normal until Monday 30th November.
- From Tuesday 1st December, you won’t be able to log in, post or reply.
- Existing posts will stay online for a short time, until 1st June 2027, as we know many people find comfort in reading them.
- On 1st June 2027, the forum will close completely and all forum content will be permanently deleted. To protect your privacy, all personal data, including account details and email addresses, will be deleted too. OCD Action won’t keep any of it.
Your posts and account
If you’re happy for your posts to stay up until June, you don’t need to do anything.
If you’d like any posts removed, it would really help us if you could do this before 1st December. Just email forum@ocdaction.org.uk and Deborah, our Forum Moderator, will delete your posts or your whole account for you. If you’d prefer, you can also edit your posts yourself.
If you think of something after the forum closes, that’s completely fine. Just email us at forum@ocdaction.org.uk and we’ll remove it for you.
We’ll also send a few reminders to the email address linked to your account over the next few weeks.
Where to find support
The forum is closing, but we’re still here for you.
- Help and Information Service: for information about OCD, treatment and getting support and monthly webinars
- Online Support Groups: a place to connect with others who understand, in a supportive online group. Places are limited, so please check our website for the latest availability.
If you’d like to keep chatting with others in an online community, OCD-UK runs an active forum at ocdforums.org.
