Hi. Anyone know if I need a doc to diagnose OCD? And can they offer treatments? Cause I’m obsessed withr hand washing and checking and its really messing up my life, and making me very stressed. Is ocd possibly why? What about cognitive behavioural therapy? Will I be expected to use it every day? Got to get over this compulsive cleaning its such a a big burden, so time to consult my GP for help?

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi there, it certainly helps, especially due to the waiting lists for treatments like cbt etc.</p>
Lots of books available to help now. Check out amazon. An idea that came forward is an idea of ‘bontamination’, where, just maybe, in ordinary life, we don’t need to be quite so clean?

        Welcome.

          Hi:

Thanks for coming to the forums for support. You can read our Resources page on Assessment and Diagnosis here: https://ocdaction.org.uk/resources/assessment/

Taking part in an assessment with a knowledgeable practitioner and with some preparation can help to open doors to the right support.

          Best Wishes,
