Recommended, evidence-based therapy for OCD: CBT with ER
This OCD Week of Action, we’re calling on the government to ensure everybody living with OCD has fair access to the recommended treatments.
What do we mean by ‘recommended’?
The two evidence-based, recommended treatments for OCD are CBT with ERP and Anti-obsessional Medication. Both these treatments are backed up by a lot of evidence and are widely considered to be highly effective when delivered by a trained professional.
In this audio clip on OCD Action Instagram, Professor David Veale tells us about the recommended, evidence-based therapy for OCD, CBT with ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention).
Unfortunately, many people are not receiving the right treatment for their OCD. In fact, just under 50% of people who took our recent survey told us they didn’t receive the recommended treatment in their most recent round of therapy.
