I have kind of a really stupid question: can you really choose to have ocd? Or are you born with it? I read books and articles on ocd and they seem to say no-one chooses to have ocd.

No, you don’t choose to have ocd.

There does seem to be a genetic component to it. I think maybe we are born with a potential to manifest ocd and it seems often to be triggered by stress.
