OCD Youth is a service designed by young people with OCD, for young people with OCD.
We know that a lot of the support out there for young people doesn’t always get it right. Maybe you’ve come across something that felt out of touch, or like it wasn’t designed with people like you in mind. Maybe you’ve thought, this could be better.
That’s where our Youth Engagement Panel comes in. It’s a group of young people helping to shape the work we do at OCD Action—improving resources, influencing campaigns, and making sure the support we offer actually reflects what young people need.
At its heart, it’s about making sure young people’s voices aren’t just heard, but actually shape what happens.
Why get involved?
There is lots to be gained from joining the Youth Engagement Panel! As a panellist, you will:
- Share your insights and lived experience to improve support for young people
- Work on exciting projects like social media campaigns and awareness events
- Help us design services that really meet the needs of young people with OCD
- Gain valuable experience and be part of a supportive, fun team
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from young people aged 18-25, living in the UK, who:
- Have lived experience of OCD or a related condition
- Are passionate about raising awareness and supporting others
- Are open-minded, respectful, and committed to making a difference
- Have great ideas and the initiative to bring them to life (with plenty of support, too!)
You don’t need any previous formal experience—we are looking for people who have thoughts and ideas about what works (and what doesn’t) and who want to be part of shaping change.
What’s the Commitment?
- Attend monthly online meetings
- Contribute ideas and feedback on youth-focused projects
- Optional: Get involved in additional opportunities like content creation or campaigning
We ask people considering getting involved to commit to a minimum of a year on the panel.
RECOGNISING YOUR CONTRIBUTION
Lived experience is a valuable form of expertise. We recognise that sharing your experiences takes time and effort, so we offer panel members a modest reimbursement for their time in meetings. Some people prefer to take part on a voluntary basis, and that option is available too—it’s completely up to you.
EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
We know that services are stronger when they reflect the experiences of the people they support. But unfortunately, in many situations, some voices are heard more than others. If you’ve faced barriers because of disability, race, gender, sexuality, class, or something else, your perspective matters here and we’d love to hear from you.
