Thank you for your time.
I wanted to ask your opinions, since I know you guys will know better than most, or at least have a better understanding.
I suffer from what I label as intrusive thoughts, since essentially that's what they are, but they don't fit into the three defined common categories and they're related to trauma the happened WAY in the past.
Anyway, I digress. Basically I have been with my girlfriend for 10 + years and she's wonderful. Funny, beautiful and very sweet. I will admit that there will be a ring for later this year.
I am trying to further my understanding on Intrusive Thoughts, essentially trying to learn as much as I possibly can.
I suffer from unwanted thoughts that plague my mind. They seem very specific to my experiences and don't fit into the typical categories. I have spoken (online only) to a therapist who agrees initially upon my own self assessment of my issue as a form of OCD.
I am doing a little research on OCD and Pure O -OCD, this naturally includes intrusive thoughts.
I understand that intrusive thoughts generally fit into the following three categories:
1. Harmful thoughts to oneself or another individual.
2. Innapropriate sexual thoughts.
3. Religious or blasphemous thoughts.
What I am trying to understand is whether someone can experience OCD intrusive thoughts without falling into one of those three categories.
I think if it's affecting you in such a way then there is absolutely no shame in seeking help. Perhaps your previous meds etc were just a temporary fix, and you could consult with a therapist on this.
