OCD Action is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chair of Trustees, Kath Howell. Kath was appointed on the 20th October 2021.

Kath joined OCD Action as a trustee in 2017 and held the position of Vice Chair from October 2020 until her appointment as Chair. With a professional background in Management Consultancy, Kath has used her experience with strategy and operational improvement to support and improve the work OCD Action does.

Kath has extensive experience within the charity sector, having been a trustee for a variety of organisations over the last 20 years, where she worked with teams to launch and set up operations, develop new ideas and bring new services and initiatives to life.

Kath Howell says: At the last Trustee Board, I stood for the role of Chairperson of OCD Action and have been humbled and honoured to have been appointed. My story is similar to so many in our community; I lived with a husband who had OCD that went undiagnosed for 16 years. Knowing the torment that a lack of understanding of what is happening can cause in families, and then a lack of suitable support and treatment, I joined OCD Action as a trustee 4 years ago, wanting to do what I could to ensure that others would not have to go through the same experience. As Chair, I am looking forward to working with the incredible staff, volunteers, and trustees of OCD Action to build on the significant legacy of the past and oversee a new chapter in the charity’s journey.

Leigh Wallbank, CEO of OCD Action says: I am delighted that Kath has been appointed Chair. Kath has been a hugely valued trustee, and then Vice Chair, during the last 4 years and has brought enormous insight and wisdom to the Board. I am very much looking forward to working with Kath as the charity enters its next chapter and I know Kath’s skills and experience will be vital in guiding the delivery of our strategy over the coming years.
