Experiencing the “OCD Cycle”? We can help!

Does the OCD Doodle below, illustrating the “OCD Cycle”, and all of it’s elements, look familiar to you?

A doodle on a white background shows the OCD cycle. The first part of the cycle is titled ‘Obsession’ and arrows coming from that say ‘memories, urges, impulses, images, ideas, sensations’. The next part of the cycle says ‘Meaning Attached’, then ‘Distress’, then ‘Compulsion’ with arrows coming from that stating a variety of compulsions ‘Overt behaviour, Mental rituals, reassurance seeking and avoidance’. The next part of the cycle says ‘Relief’ but soon followed by ‘Negative Reinforcement’ with an arrow showing that the compulsions feed back into the Obsessions, continuing the cycle.

If it does and you are, or might be, experiencing OCD, OCD Action wants you to know there is hope. We’re here to help and support you to break out of this cycle!
