Hi. Basically, we need a doctor to diagnose it properly. They can offer treatments etc. But, if your hand washing, or checking is really messing up your quality of life, disrupting it, and making you very stressed, then it is definitely possible.  Getting a book about cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can be a good indicator. I was just starting to master minimal use of antibacterials, and then Covid struck, and we were expected to use it on entry to shops etc.  We just need to be reasonably clean. At one point, Covid had everyone being compulsive cleaning, but it is starting to ease off now. Ocd, is Obsessive Compulsive ‘Disorder’. When it becomes a big burden, it is time to consult your family doctor for clarification and their help too.
