A question:  would you be likely to act on intrusive thoughts/obsessions? Because how responsible are we for problems arising from compulsions? What does anyone think?

We don’t tend to act on intrusive thoughts, if you mean “do what the thoughts suggest”.

Doing compulsions can cause problems for ourselves and others, but we, at the time, don’t manage to stop doing compulsions because we can’t. It’s not a culpable failure. We tend to get better when we obtain the right therapy and work with it.
