When they understand. It is difficult for someone who has never experienced this, to take us seriously. OCD is a bizarre condition. It is irrational as much as it is rational. It can help if family can take part in the treatment and support of us. I believe that, by now, there will be books specifically aimed at those trying to help us. Dr David Burns MD has some really good stuff well worth reading. He not only helps us to challenge the condition for ourselves, but can also give a unique insight into what our condition is actually like, and they can then appreciate what we are going through, themselves as well as us. Knowledge is power.
