Is it a normal experience with OCD to check compulsively. I end up so bogged down with the details of the thoughts it can feel like  freaking out.

Ive had experience thinking about all kinds of OCD themes and ruminating endlessly on irrational thoughts and feeling at my wits end – only to find when I step back and get some breathing space I feel totally different and ‘what was all that about’?

Its the compulsive behaviour that causes the anxiety (compulsions include thinking/mind checking in on the subject). As soon as you allow yourself space from the compulsions your anxiety reduces.

I try not to keep checking online and in the mirror. Give myself some space and hope l feel less anxious.
