Hi, i recently read a study on how people with POCD really do have compulsions making it not a real thing? What are your thoughts? I know i do not meet the criteria for OCD because of lack of the major compulsions stereotypical for OCD, just like most of you. But can you think of any compulsions you do that might not seem like compulsions? For instance i guess my praying could be... like if i i feel i have disgraced or am disgracing God i must repeatedly ask for forgiveness. What if i don't really have OCD and have something more serious? I really cannot think of a compulsion i do? Maybe if you know some of yours list them so i can pick out one i might have for reassurance? Leave your thoughts on this too!

Hi yes I have no complusions so I thought.. Constantly checking if you're aroused, checking this website for reassurance and telling my mom every new thought came to mind as a way of reassurance ( I didn't even know about that until yesterday just thought I was honest) I thought I was a real pedophile just because I had no complusions hang in there!

Hi! yes I'm much the same. Especially with telling my thoughts to others to make sure its "normal"! Didn't think of it as a compulsion!

The DSM-5 may list POCD as one of the many Paraphillias. Its point is that POCD usually has a compulsion or "acting upon" behavior associated to it. So if a thought comes to your mind, and you ignore it, then you are not being compulsive and acting on that thought.

There are also "mental rituals" or compulsions so to say that you can perform over and over. Such as the praying, or in thought proving to yourself over and over what happened or what your thinking of yourself isnt real.
