Hi all. Just wondered does anyone experience an episode of intense intrusive thoughts/ doubt / rumination that completely floors you for anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks then it fizzles out as quickly as it came?

Yeah I know what you mean. At least for the first part. It's like doubts hit me and won't leave me alone. They're the only thing I think about for a month 24/7 and I don't feel like I can have some peace of mind anymore. I really feel like I can do nothing, like I can't function properly. Now, sometimes it seems like for a couple of hours they go away, but never entirely.

Definitely. Some stick for a little bit then go. Maybe a day or two or week or so then just don't stick. Mine have been anything from animal sex to incest but just don't strike my morals like my long standing obsessions. I think we are able to feel more in touch with real selves quicker in these short episodes and also think so what and don't actually care for this obsession.

One thing I've found is in that time though the obsession is about equal to t long standing obsession. I like to try to think that is a weakness in ocd, it's veil dropping as we quickly assign the obsession to equal prominence albeit for a short period and do all the same behaviours. Same ocd but different theme.

Imagine, I walk about worried about paedophilia and underage girls then add horses vaginas. That'll ruin your libido. Someone once told me if we get locked in Homebase overnight we'd be obsessed about wanting sex with lawn mowers by the time they let us out in the morning.

Hey all
Just wondering if anyone else experiences this.
You try day after day to do the behaviour to get the better of OCD then suddenly you get a moment of clarity. All of a sudden you can see how absurd it is but your not really sure how you did it.
Unfortunately this never seems to last.
