A single event where I was put in a situation where two peoples lives were clearly in my hands has sent my anxiety through the roof. I've developed a twitch or tick and its getting worse by the hour. I'm work for an emergency service and get called out to some pretty stressful situations. My work is practical but is very much life or death in many cases. I was diagnosed with severe OCD and PTSD about 5 years ago but suffered for many years before that.

I've been referred by to treatment but the waiting list is 30 weeks which I'm not sure I can wait that long. My OCD is almost becoming a pychosis where I'm starting to believe my thoughts which is making me irrational. I'm also now getting vivid flash backs from events from the past and they are so bad they can stop me dead in the street or make even lose concentration.

I've started to drink heavily in the evenings as its the only thing that knocks me out. I cant take medication because I'm drugs tested and even painkillers show up.

I'm in a real pickle, does anyone know of a good private therapist in the midlands

I don't have an answer for your question about therapists, but it might be helpful looking into prolonged exposure therapy (PET) or TF-CBT (trauma focused cbt). These are really good treatments for PTSD, and it seems like your ptsd symptoms are making your OCD even worse. So maybe you could ask potential therapists if they have experience in both trauma work and ocd?

I also have both ptsd and ocd, and even though it's tough to treat, it's absolutely possible and you have my best wishes.
