Presently it’s 40 miles from me. Stores are running out of toilet paper, gloves & masks. Remember to use common sense with this virus. Keep hands clean before eating. Etc

Hi everyone. Yes absolutely. .. Hands before and after preparing food. Some shops and restaurants are providing antibacterial gel. Where it is provided,  use it. Sparingly. We have to get through this hopefully without destroying the good germs. Cleanliness is important,  the gel is for hands only, not hair or clothing. Was I ever like that? Oh yes! At one time I was antibac-gelling everything, including an expensive camera, that finished up ruined, not cos of germs, but the fact that I was trying to make it surgically clean. At church we will now be using antibacterials on entry, but not everytime we shake hands with someone else. This is evidence and sufficient. Hopefully someone will come up with a treatment for the corona virus. A vast majority of people get through this and get better. We just need to be vigilant and look after ourselves and thus others too. People will still be reasonably safe in fast food restaurants, and eating fruit. Wash hands after using the loo. And remember how safe we are in supermarkets. Re the trolley handles, That have always been safe to use, even though they are rarely, if ever cleaned. Same with toilet door handles in cafés. Anti bacterial gels are great, when provided,  one squeeze on the hands, but don't breathe the alcohol, cos it smells like glue!

I just want to say Coronavirus is a group of viruses, not a specific one. We have covid 19 because it was found in 2019

Hi everyone... It's not easy,  but we can get through this. We need to follow the advice we are being given, but without panic. We are human, we are brave. Washing hands after going loo, thoroughly, but not incessantly. It is possible that we could have already have had , and recovered from the virus. A vast majority of people will be fine. As Ocd'ers we sometimes try to carry the world on our shoulders,  catastrophising at every turn.  As Ocd'ers we are sometimes over-vigilant, through all this... But it isn't for ever... In the UK we are getting press conferences to help us through. Antibody testing sounds interesting.

I was in remission before this, today I've had to take a day off work because I can't cope.

Im now refusing to eat and drink because contamination. My GP is closed and I can't seek help because I'm scared of human contact. I'm in the at risk group and petrified of leaving my children orphans.

It's madness but also very real

Yes. It is indeed really scary, but CBT techniques are still okay. We can get through this together. This forum has been an absolute lifesaver for me. Reasonably clean is my mantra . In the kitchen I'm reasonably clean. Have you had CBT,  that is cognitive behavioural therapy? The techniques still apply. Hopefully this won't be forever,  perhaps it will be over by Christmas. .. we just need to be vigilant and follow the advice of central government, and weather the storm as best we can. A big thumbs to all of us....

Dubs, you can do this.  Think of how you were in remission.  You know it is OCD getting out of hand.  If you are really desperate, there are phone lines you can call.  Don't let OCD win.  Just be vigilant and listen to your rational mind.  Take care

We’re not allowed out except for essential needs. But we can exercise.
