Meditation Circle

Some other members and I have been talking about how we keep meaning to try meditating regularly, but can't seem to get into the habit - I've just had an idea about it.  A few years ago, a lady on here called Tricia, who'd trained as a spiritual healer, started a meditation circle among some of the forum members, where we'd all pray for each other at 7 o'clock each evening.  For each other and for everyone on the forum, and sometimes people who were doing particularly badly used to ask her to make a note of their names and pray for them.  It used to I swear, it used to help, although that could just have been because I was meditating myself.  It was just a great help to know that other people were there.  It's worth a try.

Besides that, whatever you think of the "distant healing" aspect, it did get me to meditate.  I was meditating almost every evening, only for 5 or 10 minutes usually but that seemed to be enough to make a sizeable difference to my state of mind.   It seems to make a big difference having some particular purpose to it.  Tricia doesn't post now, and the 7 o'clock thing seemed to have faded out as far as I know; so a few of us have decided to start it going again.  I'm intending to do it regularly at 7 o'clock from tonight on, unless something else intervenes!  Anyone who wants to join in, please do.

I've posted about this once before, by the way, in case you noticed, but I didn't explain it very well at the time and I don't think many people saw the thread, so I'm starting afresh.

If I haven't explained this clearly, do ask questions!

Best wishes,

Nice one Wombat. I'm a bit late tonight. But will try and meditate now for a few minutes to my bamboo chimes background track(to drown any background noise out).

To be continued...

Done and done. I had to watch it though as I nearly fell asleep a couple of times. And then there was an OCD thought which was very hard not to respond to but managed  to only minimally respond to it. I think it's fair to say I usually get some OCD or other while meditating. If I can duck it I do, if I absolutely have to deal with it I do as quickly as possible and just return to the meditation after. Maybe even add 5 mins on to account for the interruption. Also found it tough not to engage with random other thoughts that were vying for my attention, like what I needed to do after. Any time one of those came into my head I imagined it just evaporating away into a big cloud and floating away. That works pretty well for me.

So that's a start. Dunno if I can keep it up all nights but we'll see.

I remember that but it wasn't a meditation circle, Tricia started a group where at 7pm everyone passed on 'healing' either by prayer or by simply thinking about each other. There was no contact as such just at that time everyone stopped and as I said previously either prayed for or thought about each other.

Those were the days when this was a much closer community where people interacted with each other far more and was much chattier than it is at the moment. We also had a lot of fun on the Coffee Break forum playing games, posting jokes etc.

It would be nice if we could get back to being more supportive of each other, chattier and have a laugh and a joke together.

I'm happy to take part in this meditation. It might be just what i need to get me into a regular habit. Thanks, Wombat.

Thanks Truddles, that was what I meant but you explained some of it better than I did!

Yes, it does seem as if the forum was a closer community a few years ago, though I'm not sure.  If so, would be nice if it was again, but I'm not too much help there at present, as my concentration's so bad that try as I might I can't remember most of the new people's names!

How are people doing with this meditation? It's fallen off a bit for me, but i did some today and will try to do it more rigorously when i have the place to myself. I know it's very important for to help with and also bipolar.

As I read your message about meditation, glance around at the classical guitar I never learned to play, the entire library of books I never read, the runes I never learned to use, the powerball that's gathering dust on the corner of my desk, the weights I never use and all the programming text books whose spines aren't even broken, I realise I have let my family down, I have let my school down, and worst of all I have let myself down.

p.s. smileys don't work on this forum - there's supposed to be a guy crying up there! So picture that if you will.

We are aware that smilies aren't working using the smilies in the box and it is on our to do list. I have posted this several times

BTW I have inserted  the smilies for you
