Work for us - Project Assistant - Groups & Communities

15 hours per week

Location – Cromer, Norfolk

OCD Action is the largest national charity in the UK focusing on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Our vision is of a society where OCD is better understood and diagnosed quickly, where appropriate treatment options are open and accessible, where support and information are readily available and where nobody feels ashamed to ask for help. We provide support and information to anybody affected by OCD, work to raise awareness of the disorder amongst the public and frontline healthcare workers and strive to secure a better deal for people with OCD.

The Charity’s support group project (Even Better Together) is funded by the National Lottery's BIG Lottery Fund and works with around 75 local independent support groups and 19 online support groups for people affected by OCD (and related conditions) and their families. The project supports people wishing to set up their own support groups and has developed (in partnership with independent support groups) the creation of the National OCD Support Group Charter.

In this role you will be trained to support people wanting to set up their own local support group and provide cover and support to our online (Skype) groups when needed. You will assist with day to day project administration, including responding to support group and project enquiries. The successful candidate will help organise project events, input on the delivery of our service partnership work, and be able to lead the project and team of volunteers in the manager’s absence.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, driven and ready to input ideas and help shape our work with support groups. Applicants must be highly organised, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, but most of all demonstrate flexibility and be ready to go the extra mile
