OCD Action's Advocacy Service is the only one of its kind in the country. Despite being just over five years old, our dedicated team of volunteers, led by our Advocacy Manager and Lead Advocate, have dealt with over 500 cases in that short time, supporting and empowering clients to regain control and secure their rights. We think this is pretty impressive work for such a small team, and believe this work needs to be recognised and celebrated.
It was recently brought to our attention, that the Advocacy National Awards are fast approaching. The awards bring together and celebrate the work of independent Advocates who have gone that extra length to be a powerful voice for their clients. There are five categories for which people can be nominated:
- Outstanding advocate
- Outstanding service
- Best co-production
- Outstanding contribution to equality and diversity
- Best support of advocacy
If you would like to vote for OCD Action's Advocacy service, or a member of our Advocacy team including volunteers, please write an account of less than 500 words, explaining the category you are choosing, your reason for the nomination, and specific examples of the positive effect the individual or organisation has had. The deadline for nominations is the 15th September 2016 with the awards due to take place mid October. You can find full details of how to nominate, as well as the necessary forms, on the Advocacy Awards website.
If you would like to join our dedicated, hard-working team of Advocacy Volunteers, please get in touch with Rochelle, our Lead Advocate via email: firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone: 020 7253 5272.
