Group Information:

My OCD Support Group is available to anyone over the age of 16 years.  I welcome family members, friends, carers and have even had colleagues of sufferers before.  I have had Dr David Veale and Rob Willson in the past few years to come and give either a talk or a CBT Taster Session.  They are both very busy so we have not been able to do this for some time now, although I will endeavour to pin them down again in the not too distant future!

I provide coffee, tea and herbal teas free of charge and also cold water.

I provide a wide selection of books for clients to look at so that they know what is on the market for them to buy.  I sometimes give out various leaflets too.

The format is that we sit in large comfortable arm chairs in the main lounge and talk together as a group of like-minded people.  We share ideas and I do an awful lot of sign-posting and promoting of all the latest and developing things in both CBT, ERP and Medication.

I set up my OCD Support Group for Dr David Veale, at The Priory – North London, 20 years ago.  I know it to be the longest running, and surviving, OCD Support Group in the entire UK, (England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales).  Of this, I am very proud.  Because my day job is with a Mental Health Service User Group, Barnet Voice, I am now extremely experienced in both knowledge and facilitating groups.  I have an extensive knowledge of mental health services in Barnet, working on the Wards at Edgware, and formally at Barnet (before it closed).  I sit on various Clinical Governance Panels with Consultants and run the Patients Council Meetings, on the Wards at Edgware.  I meet monthly with the Ward Managers too.  I also do Junior Doctor Training and sit on interview panels for Barnet when they are recruiting for Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, OT, etc.  for Edgware, Chase Farm and St Anne’s Hospitals.

I am also a published author of my journey with OCD, called “Get Out Of My Head”, which Dr David Veale wrote the Foreword for.  I have been on the This Morning programme with Philip Schofield and Fern Britten.  I am also published in magazines too.  I have also talked on Spanish Radio.
