OCD Action’s ‘Better Together’ Project (funded by the BIG Lottery Fund) was set up back in February 2013 to work closely and in partnership with OCD, BDD & Hoarding groups. Since then OCD Action successfully secured a further three years funding from Big Lottery and the project became ‘Even Better Together’.
As many facilitators are also people with OCD, BDD or living with Hoarding Issues, it is vital they have the option of help, support and access to peer supervision when they need it, which the project delivers via a team of ten volunteers (based around the UK) and two OCD Actions Staff members: Keira Bartlett, Groups & Communities Manager and Carol McKean, Project Assistant, based in Cromer, North Norfolk. The Even Better Together project also provides training and networking opportunities for all facilitators and space to share ideas about running a support group, as well as helping people start up their own local support group. The majority of groups the project works with are peer led, with a few being peer led with professional support and a handful are professionally led.
