Welcome from Emma – our new lead Advocate

I am Emma Pheby, the new Lead Advocate for OCD Action and I will be carrying on with Heather Spankie’s good work. Whilst my office space will be in the North-East, I will be covering the North-East and North-West; like Heather. I will be working three days a week (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-5am) and am here to supervise, help and support the volunteers in the excellent work they are doing.

I worked for a number of years at Mind providing independent mental health advocacy to patients detained under the Mental Health Act and also to people within the community. In this role I ran a training session on mental health law for the volunteers and also supported volunteer advocates in undertaking casework. I have a legal background and have worked in both the charity and legal sectors.

I am looking forward to expanding the OCD advocacy service in the North-East and to supporting the advocacy undertaken in the North West.
