Running Wild

This month two of our fantastic fundraisers will be doing two very different -- but equally challenging -- running events.

For most of us, doing a single 10K run requires a lot of effort in itself. Well meet Sam Parker, who over the next month will be running not one, not two, but three of the blighters!

Starting with the Windsor 10K on Saturday 24th September, and continuing on the two following Saturdays, Sam will be hitting the tarmac in three consecutive 10 kilometre runs in support of two people she knows with the disorder.

Sam wrote:
OCD has affected two people very close to me, I have seen it rip them apart and make life increasingly hard. Luckily, through a lot of trial and error, and some serious lows, they have both found treatments that suit them and have "put them back together again". Now it's my turn to help others and through your donations, I hope we can at least help one person deal with their OCD and feel whole again.

So far Sam has managed to raise an incredible £368.14 including Gift Aid, which will go directly towards helping people like the two people close to her. So go to her JustGiving page and help her raise even more!

That’s not all, though! For on Sunday 25th September, the day after Sam begins her running trilogy, another of our fundraisers will be doing a run of her own!

Annah Salter is taking on Nottingham’s Robin Hood Half Marathon. Like Robin Hood, Annah will be going above and beyond to help those in need. Though unlike the legendary outlaw, there won’t be any stealing involved! Annah is raising funds on behalf of her sister who lives with OCD.

Annah's sister wrote:
For me, OCD isn't just a phrase or a comment, but a monster. I've battled with OCD since I was 11; I'm now 18 and am still fighting it. My teenage years have been snatched away by this disorder, as well as my independence and confidence. OCD Action puts you in contact with people like you, so that you can share experiences, access a huge support network and most importantly talk to people who understand exactly what you're thinking and going through! I cannot thank them enough for their support and their dedication to raising awareness and challenging the stigma surrounding OCD.

So show your support to Annah and her sister by donating to Annah’s JustGiving page. She’s already raised a brilliant £230 including Gift Aid, so get donating!

Thank you so much to both Annah and Sam for all you’re doing for us, and best of luck to the both of them. We’ll keep you posted on how things go.

Would you like to get involved with some fundraising of your own? Send me a message at charlie@ocdaction.org.uk or call the London office on 020 7253 5272. We can’t wait to hear what you’re all up to!
