Help People With OCD Fight for Their Rights - Advocacy Volunteering

OCD Action's Advocacy Service is currently looking for volunteers to join the team! Could you help?

Our Advocacy for OCD Service is the only one of its kind in the UK, supporting hundreds of people each year to access quality treatment for their OCD, fight discrimination and stigma, and live in safe, supportive environments. Our Advocacy Manager, Lead Advocate, Advocacy Caseworker and our team of Volunteer Caseworkers work tirelessly to support as many people as they can, but as awareness of OCD improves, more and more people are coming to OCD Action and seeking advocacy support, so now we need to expand our team to ensure that we can meet the needs of those with OCD.

What experience do I need to become a Volunteer Caseworker?

No experience is needed as our team will provide you with the full training and tools you need to carry out the work. What we do require is reliability, a passion to help people with OCD (and ideally personal experience, whether through yourself or a family member/friend), and strong listening and communications skills.  Find out more in our role description.

How much time do I need to commit to the role?

We ask that you commit to working for a minimum of half a day a week (this can be split up to fit around your other commitments).

What will be required of me?

As a Volunteer Caseworker, you will be assigned a client(s) to work with and you will support that individual with their issue. This may involve making telephone calls on their behalf, writing letters for them, or occasionally attending meetings with them.

Can this work be done from home?

Yes! We are recruiting Volunteer Caseworkers all around the country, and the work can be done from home. Our staff team will be in regular contact with you to provide you with all of the support you need to carry out the role.
